Overview:
The client provides a wide range of capital market products and services to corporate, government and institutional clients who choose us for our knowledge and experience in five key areas of finance: Investment Banking, Debt Capital Markets, Institutional Equities, Private Equity and Foreign Exchange & Money Market. Our services include the underwriting and distribution of new debt and equity issues, providing advice on strategic acquisitions and divestitures, and executing daily trading and investment needs.
The Equity Derivatives Support Group is responsible for providing global support to equity derivatives trading business located in major financial centres including Toronto, New York, Chicago, London and Dublin.
Job Description:
The IT business analyst position interacts with all users of Murex (3rd party trading platform) including Front Office traders, Finance & Operations, Back Office, Treasury Credit, and Risk Management to develop and implement lasting and robust technology solutions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for taking the lead on strategic business initiatives. Working alongside the development team, the analyst will be required to deliver detailed specifications and project documentation and will have significant input regarding design and development.
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing a strong understanding of business needs through the gathering and deep analysis of business requirements
- Producing robust and innovative technical solutions
- Peer reviews of project initiatives
- Providing guidance to junior members on the project team
- Building strong working relationships with the business and various user groups
Specific Educational Requirements:
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Business/Finance.
- CFA designation will be considered an asset.
Other Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
- Strong written and oral communication skills with an emphasis on translating complex concepts and procedures
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working independently while facing new and challenging obstacles
- 4+ year(s) experience in technology projects with exposure to capital markets
- Previous experience managing a technically-oriented team would be an asset
- Proficiency with SQL and working in a UNIX shell environment
- Experience with Murex would be an asset
- Knowledge of vanilla and exotic equity derivative products
